CLASS 6: SPEAKING IN TONGUES

"For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people but to God.

Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit."

—1 Corinthians 14:2

FOLLOWUP & ACTIVATION

Hi everyone! Wow, we hit some controversial topics last week, everything from Covid to Speaking in Tongues. Just wanted to say thanks for being such an amazing group that's been willing to talk through it all with an open heart. I'm having a blast with you guys. Shout out to everyone who's been sticking around in the afterparty till 11pm... ya'll crazy!! :D

We talked about how according to 1 Corinthians 14, there are two different types of tongues. One is meant to be interpreted, and one is spoken only to God. Paul’s restricting of the gift in church is because of the presence of other believers who will not be helped by an utterance they don't understand. In the solitude of one’s own devotions these restrictions no longer apply. Only God is present, and "one who speaks in tongues speaks not to men but to God."

Getting baptized in the Spirit

Some of you have mentioned being a little scared to receive the Baptism. That's totally understandable because most churches today don't teach about it, so it feels pretty foreign. Just remember, the modern church is a far cry from the Christian life that Jesus taught and modeled. Jesus himself said he was going to baptize us in the Holy Spirit & Fire. So if it comes from Jesus, it must be good! Don't allow yourself to "nullify the power of God through your religious tradition." Mark 7:13. No pressure and no hurry, but remember that getting baptized in the HS is about getting even closer to God.

Guys... God wants you healed! He was willing to die for it!

Activation:

  • Ask God for the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and the gift of Tongues.

  • Set up a time to receive prayer so we can "digitally" lay hands on you to receive the Baptism. :)

  • Continue to renew your mind by listening to Scriptural sermons that proclaim the truth about healing.
