COMPULSIVE HABITS

IDOLS: THEY'RE NOT JUST STATUES

“An idol is anything you trust more than you trust God, or anything you have to check with before you say yes to God.”

—Kris Vallotton

FOLLOWUP & ACTIVATION

A few things that may indicate the presence of an idol:

  • Coping mechanisms (behaviors you turn to when under stress or anxiety)

  • Addictive / compulsive behaviors

  • Where you're getting your worth

Some of them can sneak in under the radar because they don't seem that bad, for example:

  • Social media

  • Checking texts and messages

  • Skin picking

  • Hyper-focusing on flaws in the mirror

  • Eating sugar
